Charlotte's Visit Part 2: Tourists in Downtown SF.

We began our Wednesday (after I had finished ballet, AGAIN) in Fisherman's Wharf, on Pier 39 to be exact.
Yes, it's the most touristy part of San Francisco (some might even go as far as to say tacky) but nevertheless, it's a must for first-time visitors like Charlotte.

We both loved seeing the sea lions!

It was also a beautiful day at the pier...

...so we found a surf shack, the Wipeout Bar and Grill, for lunch.

Their signs were brilliant too:

It seems like I can't stop ordering fish tacos wherever I go!

Afterwards we walked off lunch by hiking up Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower, in North Beach (San Francisco's Little Italy). It's QUITE a way! The hills here never cease to amaze me.

But we eventually made it!

On the inside there are loads of murals, which were painted in the 30s during the Great Depression. They're really cool, and give a very different impression of San Francisco.

We took the lift right to the top...

...and were rewarded with some great views of the city!

Downtown:

The Golden Gate Bridge and Marin:

And the Bay Bridge and Oakland!

Afterwards we walked down into the real part of North Beach.

We stopped at the Saints Peter and Paul Church, where Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe had their wedding pictures taken (though they actually got married at City Hall).

We had to strike our best Marilyn poses!

Opposite is Washington Square Park, so we sat out and enjoyed the sunshine - so much so that we had to put on some suncream. Yes, in March - who'd have thought it?!

Stockton Street, in North Beach, San Francisco!

Afterwards we walked back to the station through Chinatown and soaked up the atmosphere (and even more sun!)

On Thursday I had to be in class all day again, so Charlotte went shopping in downtown San Francisco at the Westfield Mall on a downright foggy day - I'll never understand why is the weather so inconsistent!

On the evening, we headed back to Upper Haight for Off The Grid, which I first went to ages ago at Fort Mason.
I thought it would be a fun evening thing to do, aside from going out to eat. And I was right - it was hilarious!

We started with a baked tofu bun from The Chairman, which I first tried at the Treasure Island Flea Market

They were just as delicious as last time!

We also had some 'sexy fries' (sweet potato and paneer) from Curry Up Now...

...and finished with some donuts from The Architect.

All in all, San Francisco's finest!
