Charlotte's Visit Part 4: Ferrying to Sausalito.

Today our plan was pretty much just to avoid downtown - it was the St. Patrick's Day Parade so it was bound to be very very busy.

Instead we decided to get the ferry across to the little village of Sausalito, on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. To get there though, we had to get our tickets at the Ferry Building.

While we were there we had a good look around the Farmer's Market, which is outside the Ferry Building on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

There are so many interesting things to look at!

We thought it would be nice to have a picnic in Sausalito (as it was such a sunny day!), so we picked up a baguette from Acme Bread...

And inside, we bought a couple of different cheeses from Cowgirl Creamery.

When we had stocked up, we hopped on the ferry and left San Francisco behind!

It was quite blustery!

We sat and had our little picnic overlooking the bay - Sausalito feels like it could  be a Mediterranean village!

Afterwards we strolled through the town.

It's so lovely, and a world away from San Francisco!
