The Big Apple.

Another New York adventure today!

We spent the morning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, soaking up some culture.

We both liked the punk exhibition best, but no photos were allowed! It's alright though, we also liked the Impressionists -  and the roof garden!

Afterwards, we explored 'New York's backyard' - Central Park!

We debated boating...but in the end decided to stick to dry land (and pretzels).

In the evening, we grabbed a quick pre-theater dinner...

...before heading to Times Square, to see Annie

It was a great show, and we're both sad to be leaving New York! Until next time, NYC!

Thursday 27 June 2013

Hello, New York!

After a less-than-enjoyable megabus ride, we arrived in New York City!
I love New York, and it all feels so familiar - I can't believe it's been three years since I was last here with Rach, and five years since I've been here with my sister (I'll spare those pictures though, for both our sakes!)

After we arrived, we had a great meal in a small restaurant near to our hotel, in Midtown.

The next day, we said 'Gooood Morning, New York!' as we strolled through the streets of Midtown Manhattan, past the Empire State Building...

...the New York Public Library...

...Times Square...

...and Radio City Music Hall.

After twenty blocks and some lunchtime dumplings...

...we reached our destination - the Top of the Rock, at the Rockefeller Center!

We had a very low-key evening in the hotel as I wasn't feeling great, but the next day I'd perked up - so we made our way down to the 9/11 Memorial, which is in the shadow of the Twin Towers.

The towers are symbolised by two pools of water.

The memorial really is astounding - and overlooking everything is the new World Trade Center.

After a quick detour to Wall Street and Battery Park, with the Statue of Liberty in the distance...

...we made our way over to the High Line, a cool walkway over the city, on old elevated rail tracks.

In the evening, we went to a great all-Vegan Korean restaurant.
We started with tapas...

...before moving onto Singapore noodles...

...and finishing off with mochi.

We officially love New York!
