On The Road: Pasadena & Palm Springs.

And so we left L.A...

...but not before a quick stop in Pasadena, a really pretty town on the outskirts.

We were trying to go easy on the food - after a few large portions of burger and fries we were all feeling like we needed a break - until we came across the Cheesecake Factory in Pasadena, where Penny works in the Big Bang Theory!

Pretty disappointed that it looked different to the show...but look at all the cheesecakes!

Lunch for today: Cherry Cheesecake! AND I was the only one who managed to finish it.

As we drove into the desert, we noticed these wierd clouds - apparently the stripes are rainclouds!

When we arrived it was SO HOT - nearing 40C. Us Brits are just not used to it! It feels like you have to shallow breathe, and like you're stood under an electric heater.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Suites Palm Springs, which was very swish - our room had its own little lounge:

Palm Springs is pretty much a one-horse town, especially in the crazy-hot down season in August.

So we decided to head for some air - up a mountain, to be precise, on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.

It was pretty scary stuff. You're carried up the mountain in these little pods (Swiss-made, according to my Dad, so perfectly safe), which have to swing to clear the towers.

The scenery was pretty spectacular...

...and from the top, you can make a wish!
