Let's Go To The Beach!

We began the day over at Santa Monica, the nearest beach town to L.A. It was pretty cool - as well as the beach itself, it had an old-fashioned pier, a ferris wheel and even a carousel.

I liked this because it reminded me of the one in BIG.

Santa Monica also apparently marks the end of Route 66!

first dip in the Pacific!

The waves got me.

We went up to the 3rd Street Promenade for lunch, which is a lovely pedestrianised shopping street.

So L.A.

We ate at this place called Barney's Beanery, which was apparently a favourite of Marilyn Monroe and Jimi Hendrix back in the day!

Loved all the different number plates!

I also bought some Obama bumper stickers (I just had to) from a really chilled guy on a stall outside, who stamped me with a peace sign...

After dinner we headed south to Venice Beach, which was a whole different kettle of fish...there were definitely a fair few crazies about to say the least! It was a little more 'real' than Santa Monica, anyway.

By the beach they had this skate place, which was pretty cool - all the people skating looked like pros!

For tea we headed back to Citywalk and went to Bubba Gump Shrimp & Co. A Great Place!

They have these signs on the table, and when you want the waiter to stop...

You just turn it over to 'STOP FORREST STOP!'

The food was good (shrimp galore), but the drinks were even better!

Emily loved her flashing glass, which she got to take home...

But my Mum and Dad loved their Corona Ritas more! A Margarita with a Corona suspended into it!

Wish I was 21.
